Both public librarians and teachers will find material in Tatar's book for their programs or classes. This book is not intended for "read aloud" at story hour. While the text is sprinkled with beautiful illustrations and drawings, most are small (2 X 3 to 4 X ) and would not be suitable for a group of several children at once. However, the volume is a wonderful resource for storytelling material. However, Children's librarians will use Tartar's book to re-familiarize themselves with 26 fairytales, their variations and interpretations.

High school and college students may also find material here for assignments. Initially reviewing this book for the children's collection, it became obvious that it would be more appropriate for adults. But then, some would argue that many fairy tales are more appropriate for adults than for children.
