Set in 1957, My Louisiana Sky tells the story of an eleven year-old girl, nicknamed Tiger and her mentally disabled parents. When her grandmother dies, Tiger is torn between the invitation to live with her Aunt in Baton Rouge and the feeling that she should stay in to look after her parents. While she feels responsible for her parents well-being, at times Tiger wants to be the child that she is. Tiger is faced with decisions that often puzzle adults, only one of which is whether she should accept her aunt's invitation to live in Baton Rouge or stay in Saitter with her parents.
