Hurst, Carol Otis. Rocks in His Head. New York : Greenwillow Books, 2001.

Rocks in His Head tells the story of a boy who liked to collect rocks. While people said that he "had rocks in his head," the boy's interest in rocks lasted his whole life. What good is rock collecting? This is an easy reader, appropriate for children in grades one through three. The book teaches about accepting people with  unusual interests, without preaching. It's a lot of fun
